About Damon
Damon is 12 years old. He lives around the White House, TN area. He attends W.H.M.S. He drives a Quarter Midget race car. His home track is located in Hermitage, TN. Damon really enjoys driving his cars. He is currently in the Sr. Honda and Light 160 divisions. He is now in his fifth year of racing.
When in his car, he is well protected with the latest safety equipment. The car has a full chrome moly roll cage and nerf bars. There is a five point seat harness, full face helmet, gloves and nomex firesuit. He wears a neck brace and arm restraints which keeps his arms in the car if there is a wreck. Even though the kids who race drive fast and have fun, the sport focuses on kid's safety. They are taught all the basics in the beginning and start slow and build up to the speeds where Damon's division is now. By the time they reach that division they know all the fundamentals of driving.

2011 Race Season
March 12th (1st Points Race)
3rd place finish in the Main.
March 25th - 27th (USAC Next Generation Race)
Damon made it to the A-Main and finished 6th.
April 23rd (2nd Points Race)
3rd place finish in the Main.
April 30th (3rd Points Race)
3rd place finish in the Main.
May 14th (4th Points Race)
2nd place finish in the Main.
May 28th (5th Points Race)
1st place finish in the Main!
June 4th (6th Points Race)
2nd place finish in the Main.
June 25th (7th Points Race)
2nd place finish in the Main.
July 16th (8th Points Race)
4th place finish in the Main.
This was a tough race! After a great start and taking the lead on the first lap, Damon led about 20 laps! He was then passed but Damon didn't give up. He had a solid 2nd place finish when the white flag (last lap) was waved. Damon went for the win on the last lap and was pinned down on the inside. The car got a bit loose and spun around. He had to go to the tail end of the pack but pulled it together to pass and get to 4th position with one lap left.
July 30th (9th Points Race)
2nd place finish in the Main.
September 17th (10th Points Race)
2nd place finish in the Main.
October 1st (11th Points Race) - 2nd place finish in the Main.
(12th Points Race) - 1st place finish in the Main.
October 29th (12th Points Race) - 3rd place finish in the Main.
2 races were held on the 29th. The last points race of the season was during the day and then a special event was held under the lights. MCQMRA had a 1st Annual event in rememberance of our dearly missed flagman Scott "Impy" Impellizeri who will not be forgotten. This was a very exciting event that had both the Jr. Honda and Sr. Honda cars racing together.

The 2011 Race Season is over and the 2012 Race Season will begin soon. Thanks to all the family and friends that came out to the track to cheer Damon on and watch him race. Thanks to everyone who helped out in anyway for the season, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you Jessica for always cheering for Damon and getting his numbers on his car.

Damon's division is Sr. Honda and now also Light 160. The track is approximately 1/20th of a mile. They run a qualifier, heat race and a feature race. The heat race is 20 laps. The feature race is 40 laps. But with all the action in some of these races it is sometimes much more. Depending on the weather and the track condition they reach speeds of 50-60 mph. The track is a small one and the kids don't have much time to think about there moves. They just get in and drive the car. With spin outs and wrecks the kids have to be able to avoid getting involved by good reaction time and knowing where to go. It seems to just comes natural to them.
